Players to Keep an Eye On For the 2017 NFL Season
The 2017 NFL season begins in September. There is a high level of excitement for every new season of the NFL and that’s because every American sports fan out there loves the sport of American football; but this time, there is more reason for anticipation since the defending Super Bowl LI champs, New England Patriots, will be going up against the Kansas City Chiefs to open the season. But those aren’t just what makes the NFL so popular, since there always will be those looking for tips for fantasy league, NFL free picks, and others wanting to get a heads-up of the betting odds.
You probably have read so many team previews and discussions about which team is winning it this year and which rivalries will heat up once again; but how about the top players to keep an eye on for the 2017 season?
1 – Robert Griffin III
Griffin played for the Cleveland Browns last season before the team cut his in March this year. However, even if Griffin was recently cut, he’s still far from calling it quits. A recipient of the 2011 Heisman trophy, it’s hard to imagine him sitting out the new season and if we were to bet on it, we’ll go for him finding a new team sooner than later.
2 – Matt Ryan
Ryan is no doubt one of the most popular players in the NFL today. However, it’s fair to say that his popularity is also linked to the historic comeback made by New England against his team, the Atlanta Falcons in the recent Super Bowl. But the very same setback Ryan endured last season can also be the best motivation to return as a hungrier and more desperate quarterback for the Falcons.
3 – Michael Thomas
The New Orleans Saints’ young and promising wide receiver had 92 catches/1,137 yards last season, which obviously are numbers worthy of a closer look in the upcoming season. The Saints look to improve their offense in the new season and that right there is an indication that Thomas will be filling in a bigger role. If there is one good proof of the enormous potential found in Thomas, it has to be the fact that during his rookie season, he managed to break franchise records for a rookie in touchdowns, receptions, and receiving yards.
4 – Blake Bortles
Bortles is one of the younger quarterbacks in the league and he comes in with a lot of redeeming to do after a disappointing season last year. If there’s one good thing going for Bortles, it’s the fact that the third overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft is well-liked by management and the fans of the Jacksonville Jaguars; but he should be paying it with more maturity in accepting his leadership responsibilities for the team.
